Dr. Ebru Gencer Attends Global Platform for DRR 2017

CUDRR+R’s Executive Director, Dr. Ebru Gencer, both attended and presented at the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Cancun, Mexico, which took place May 22-26, 2017.

Dr. Gencer presented at the Preparatory Day session, “DRR Governance at the Local Level.” The session was chaired by Professor Dilanthi Amaratunga of the University of Huddersfield, UK. She was also a workshop participant at the Capacity Development Consultation Seminar chaired by UNISDR GETI.

Dr. Gencer furthermore participated as a speaker in “Promoting Land Use and Spatial Planning for Disaster Risk Reduction,” a working session chaired by Rolando Ocampo (Vice President, INEGI-Mexico and co-chair of United Nations Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM)) and Dan Lewis (Chief of Urban Risk Reduction, UN-HABITAT). Workshop in Santa Ana, El Salvador

As part of its CDKN/FFLA/IDRC funded project on Participatory Planning for Resilient Development in Latin American Cities, CUDRR+R, together with project partners, IIED-AL and ALTERRA, and local partners, the City of Santa Ana and PRISMA, is holding a workshop on Climate Resilient Development in Santa Ana, El Salvador.

The morning portion of the workshop on Thursday, May 11 will be open to the general public.
