CUDRR+R and Partners Hold Workshop in Santo Tome, Argentina

CUDRR+R, along with partner organizations IIED-Latin America and Alterra, recently completed a workshop focusing on adapting to climate change and promoting inclusive urban development in Santo Tome, Argentina. On June 22-23rd, 2017, CUDRR+R Executive Director Ebru Gencer joined partner organizations as well as participating representatives from the Municipalidad de Santo Tome to discuss the unique challenges to climate adaptation as well as assets within the community.

How to Make Cities More Resilient: A Handbook for Local Government Leaders

We are happy to announce the successful completion and release of the New Handbook for Local Government Leaders (2017 edition) by UNISDR as a contribution to the Making Cities Resilient Campaign 2010-2020. CUDRR+R’s Executive Director Dr. Ebru Gencer is the lead author of this report, with contributions from numerous partners and local governments. Local Government Powers for Disaster Risk Reduction: A new report by UNISDR and CUDRR+R is finalized

CUDRR+R is happy to announce the completion of another report for the UN Office for Disaster Risk Reduction. Local Government Powers for Disaster Risk Reduction: A Study on Local-Level Authority and Capacity for Resilience is a baseline study on the types of authorities and capacities local governments have to undertake DRR actions and build urban resilience. The study develops benchmarks for the Ten Essentials promoted in the Making Cities Resilient campaign, and is based on research from collaborating partners and participating cities.
