RESILIÉNT/CITY and CUDRR+R Announce Working Partnership

The Center for Urban Disaster Risk Reduction Resilience (CUDRR+R) and RESILIÉNT/CITY have entered into a partnership offering decades of experience to address the growing challenges of climate change, information gaps and capacity limitations in government, and rapid urbanization that are confronting cities.

“We are very excited to form a partnership with RESILIÉNT/CITY that has immense experience in risk-based governance,” states Ebru Gencer, Executive Director at CUDRR+R. “Through such a partnership, CUDRR+R will be able to identify capacity gaps in urban governance towards achieving its mission to reduce risks and increase resilience for sustainable urban development.”

CUDRR+R Executive Director to Join Panel on Water Resilient Planning

Dr. Ebru Gencer, Executive Director of CUDRR+R, will participate in a panel discussion on February 17, 2017, as part of the Water Resilient Urban and Regional Development symposium.

The symposium will take place February 16-18, 2017, and is hosted by the University Alliance Ruhr in New York. The symposium’s focus will be on the role of water at the interface of urban and rural territories. Dr. Gencer will be one of several planning and research experts to participate in the three day event, during which participants will compare best practices of design and urban planning solutions implemented in both the United States and the Ruhr area of Germany, and identify future research opportunities.

Executive Director Dr. Ebru Gencer Joins ISOCARP Institute Board

Dr. Ebru Gencer, Executive Director at CUDRR+R, has joined the Board of Directors at the newly established ISOCARP Institute Centre of Urban Excellence. The Institute was initiated as a “world class knowledge bank and think tank for planning excellence which empowers individuals, organizations and institutions to achieve better human settlements.”

The mission of the Institute is to “enrich the knowledge base and develop the capacity of individuals, organizations and institutions responsible for, or partaking in, the shaping and development of human settlements.” The primary objectives of the Institute include strengthening cross-border collaboration, upholding professional excellence in planning, advancing sustainable planning, sharing best practices, and increasing awareness of major development trends, all while serving as an “Urban Think Tank” to facilitate the dissemination of knowledge for the benefit of cities around the world.
